A Fresh Breath of Life: "Knowing God's Heart"
by Pastor Brett Castle

Mark 4:34 (NAS) "...but He (Jesus) was explaining everything privately to his own disciples."

The thing that makes me grow my faith the most as a Christian and that allows me to be the most
at joy is the fact that the God I worship desires to have a personal relationship with me. He does not always explain things that I have questions about, but my alone time with Him shows me His love is always right and has my beat interests in heart and mind. In the Scripture leading up to our text, Jesus is preaching in parables, and the worldly flesh of mankind has had a hard time understanding His meaning. So He took His own followers aside and gave them some personal time in order to help them understand. Now that is a God that cares and shows His love by taking time to be with His own. The same is true in our day and time; God loves us so much He desires to spend time with us. Take a moment and let that sink in. The Lord God of the Bible takes time to be with all that have called upon His name and are His "disciples".

The word "disciple" means according to American Heritage Dictionary: "an active adherents and accepting the teachings of a master often assists in spreading the teachings."

The preaching of Christ brought people to be His disciples, but it was the alone time that grew them in faith and deed.

My dearly beloved In light of the Word of God, we see He desires to have a personal relationship with us that entails alone time with Him. The question that begs to be answered is - are you willing to make the time and effort to spend alone time with your God Creator?

It is so easy to think that we know the mind and heart of God by our standards, morals, and values. We have the human ego and pride that tries to make God in our image instead of letting Him grow us in His image.  Jesus can't fill us with His will until we are emptied of our own will, and that means letting Him into our lives and time. This is slow work, so slow that it takes a loving, caring God to invest in us. Love is shown in how we invest our lives in that we love. God came and invested in us to the point of death. Can't we invest in Him to the point of living?

It amazes and humbles me to think that the God Creator of the Bible desires to spend time with a sinner like me. The answers will not come until we spend the time with Him who has the answers, and we have to be grown up to the point we can understand the answer.

Christian, stop and let the Holy Spirit of God whisper God's desire to fellowship with you; no matter where you are or what you have done, just come onto Him now. His love will touch and heal. He wants you.
