Contending In Faith To Fight Against False Teaching

Jude 1:3-4 (NASB)
3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

We have to fight the war to keep the Gold of God’s Word Pure. There will always be those who seek to rob the gold from those who have worked to mine this rich mineral from those who possess it.

Intro. to these verses. If the evil one can’t steal the golden nuggets of God’s word outright he will try to replace the real gold with Fool’s Gold. (Iran-pyrite).

1. It is a very mean and clever trick when Satan uses false teachers and preachers to replace the pure gold of God’s Word with half truth, replacing the pure with falsehoods that look like the real stuff.
A. Then the uneducated miner will not know the fools gold is there until he goes to cash it in.
B. It is so sad when the one who knows the gold is false and yet, is silent and sees the down fall of the one living with fools gold, yet is too worried about self to stop the fall. (The P.C. correct fools gold, is seen but the truth holder is not moved because he doe not desire to be unpopular.)
2. The silence of the the church reminds me of the O.T. event of David and Goliath. In the Word of God in 1 Samuel Chapter 17, we find this huge nugget of pure gold.
A. Goliath The (P.C. giant) would go out day after day and call out the army of God, yet each time they would retreat in silence and fear.

1 Samuel 17:8-9 (NASB)
8 And he stood and shouted to the ranks of Israel, and said to them, “Why do you come out to draw up in battle array? Am I not the Philistine and you servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves and let him come down to me.
9 ” If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will become your servants; but if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall become our servants and serve us.”

B. When the youth David came to bring his brother supplies he, heard the challenge to God’s people, and could not believe the silent response in fear.
C. But he is a boy of strong faith among men of weak faith. He does not retreat in silent fear, no, he runs to confront the enemy of God.

1 Samuel 17:32-37 (NASB)
32 And David said to Saul, ” Let no man’s heart fail on account of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”
33 Then Saul said to David, ” You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth while he has been a warrior from his youth.”
34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a lamb from the flock,
35 I went out after him and attacked him, and rescued it from his mouth; and when he rose up against me, I seized him by his beard and struck him and killed him.
36 “Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God.”
37 And David said, ” The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, ” Go, and may the LORD be with you.”

D. The church of this day and time needs Davids to stand up and call out Giants that attack Her today.
E. Hear this great defender of the faith as his voice refuses to be silenced in fear from this giant of the worldly flesh.

1 Samuel 17:45-47 (NASB)
45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.
46 “This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
47 and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.”

G. Now like Paul Harvey used to say, “The Rest Of The Story”

1 Samuel 17:48-49 (NASB)
48 Then it happened when the Philistine rose and came and drew near to meet David, that David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand into his bag and took from it a stone and slung it, and struck the Philistine on his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead, so that he fell on his face to the ground.

Please hear Jude as he is sounding the alarm to stand up and face the false teachers and preachers of our day and time, both in the church and the holders of Fools Gold in the leadership places in our nation.
